A position is available for a PhD-student or post-doc (3/4 or full position, level 13 TV-L, Drittmittelstelle) in Algorithms in Bioinformatics, starting September 1, 2007, for a duration of three years.
The main topic is the development, implementation and application of new tools for next-generation sequencing applications (in cooperation with Prof. Weigel, MPI for Developmental Biology). A main application of the work will be to support the re-sequencing of plant genomes using new sequencing-by- synthesis technologies.
Applicants should have a very good Diploma, Master or PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, biology or a related field. A keen interest in algorithm design and implementation, and a good knowledge of basic molecular biology are also required.
