The Institute for Atmosphere and Environment of the Goethe-Universit€ ¦ä t Frankfurt has a vacancy for a
-- PhD-student (m/f) in regional radiation budgets and climate model evaluation --
The successful candidate will derive regional radiation budgets from satellite and ground based observations, define and estimate relevant statistics, and apply the climatology in evaluation of the regional climate model simulations with CLM (http://www.clm- community. eu) in Europe and Asia.
An academic qualification comparable to a German Diplom degree (e.g., a Master's degree including a written thesis) in the field of meteorology, physics, or a related discipline is required. Experience in statistics and in programming (FORTRAN90, UNIX) is a plus.
The position is offered for initially two years, with payment according to the BAT2a/2. Extension to three years is possible. The work will be conducted in the framework of the EU project BRAHMATWINN and in a co-operation with the German weather service (DWD).
