The mission of BAM (federal Institute for Metrials Research and Testing) is to assure safe and environmentally friendly application of technology.
For our division VII.3 "Fire Engineering" in Berlin we are looking for a
PhD candidate
termed contract for 18 months (prolongation for another 18 months after successfull evaluation)
payment according to German frame contract for public sector (60 %)
objectives:
- numerical simulation of fire scenarios in industrial facilities,
- experimental fire investigations with down-scaled models,
- development of mathematical models for flame propagation, turbulence and geometry effects,
- maintaining contacts to industrial partners.
requirements:
- M.Sc. or comaparable qualification in fluid mechanics, engineering physics, heat and process engineering, civil engineering or physics,
- knowledge in numerical fluid mechanics,
- experiences in the application of CFD codes (FLUENT, CFX or similar),
- very good knowledge of English
- ability to work in a team.
