PhD-Studentship
Technische Universiteit Eindhoven Department of Applied Physics
Exploring the Ultimate in Photonics
Job description
The projects are embedded in the field of epitaxial growth of semiconductor quantum dots and their application in photonic devices. The specific aim for the postdoc is the fabrication of long wavelength quantum dots in the InAs/InP materials system for the realization of broadband light emitting diodes and lasers for imaging and sensing
applications. The specific aim for the PhD student is the development of novel quantum functional devices such as single photon emitters at telecom wavelengths employing submicrometer- scale active-passive integration and the precise positioning of few or a single quantum dot by selective area growth. These challenging projects are aimed to bring us to the ultimates of integrated photonic devices operating at extended wavelengths, and down to the level of single photons and electrons.
Required education/skills
For this position we are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a master in physics or electrical engineering with good results. A strong background in semiconductor physics and epitaxial growth of semiconductor nanostructures is advantageous.
