CfP: A Summit organized by ARI Movement with partnership

ARI Movement announces a call for papers for the Black Sea Youth Forum Summit. The goal of the conference is to create a platform to discuss political developments in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Ukraine. Therefore, students who are citizens of these 5 countries ranging from undergraduate to PH.D are welcome to submit their papers.

Our aim is to bring scholars, NGO activists, media representatives and especially students from these countries together and discuss developments that were undertaken in the last decade.

Black Sea Youth Forum will be organized in Istanbul and will last for three days. During the first two days, the papers will be presented and discussions will be made on each topic in a facilitated workshop. In the last session the participants will write a declaration to be announced to public during the last day of the Summit. Accepted papers will be made available to all summit participants. In addition, we
expect that every summit participant is willing to act as formal discussant for their summit papers.

Possible essay topics will be:

- The effect on the youth of transition from the Soviet era

- Europeanization of politics in respective states- What has it meant for the youth

- Democratization experiences and obstacles, in respective states

- NGOs and their activities towards creating open societies

The basic eligibility criteria will be:

Age: Between 20-35

Language: English

Academic background: At least a university degree.

Country: To be a citizen of one of the 5 Program countries (Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine)

The best essay will be awarded with 500 €

Please submit essays of 3000-4000 words no later than September 10,
2008 to the following e-mail address blackseasummit@ ari.org.tr

Please add to the essays also – name, surname of the author, contact
information, academic program (if applicable), university or research
institution.

Candidates with accepted papers will be notified no later than October
10, 2008.

Please be aware that the accommodation and travel costs of the
participants will be covered.
