The qualified individual will participate in ongoing externally funded projects and develop his/her career towards independent investigations. Existing projects are focused on finite element analysis of roadside safety structures. Development of independent research within the general area of nonlinear finite element analysis will be encouraged.
Duties will include: (1) perform nonlinear finite element modeling and simulations for ongoing research projects; (2) develop computer programs for finite element model generations; (3) write project reports, research proposals, and research papers; and (4) carry out other assigned professional duties. The candidate should be familiar with nonlinear finite element methods and have hands on experience with commercial finite element software packages. Familiarity with LS-DYNA and Hyperworks are desired. Experience with software programming and Linux/Unix operating systems are advantageous.
