Postdoc - Physics (Belle experiment) - University of Cincinnati, USA

The high energy physics group at the University of Cincinnati has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate in the Belle group. The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of renewal. The Belle group at Cincinnati consists of two faculty members, two postdocs, and several graduate and undergraduate students. We are involved in numerous analyses including measurements of the CKM angle - via b-quark to u-quark decays; measurements of mixing in the neutral D meson system; measurements of polarization in B meson decays to vector-vector final states; and studies of Bs meson decays using data taken at the Upsilon(5S) resonance.

Belle has the world's largest sample of reconstructed B meson (and D meson) decays, and with this large data set there are many excellent physics analysis opportunities. The experiment will take data until 2009, when the detector is scheduled to be upgraded to a ""Super B-factory'' experiment. The Cincinnati group is involved in developing particle identification detectors for this upgrade.
