Postdoctoral Fellow - Public Policy Evaluation - Universidade de Tras-os-montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal

Summary: Applicants are invited for a full time post-doc researcher in public policies evaluation, at the Centre for Transdisciplinary Development Studies (CETRAD) of the UTAD. Applicants should hold a PhD in social sciences with strong skills in the field of policy evaluation, to have a good publications record and willingness to integrate an interdisciplinary team. Fluency in English is required.

Description: CETRAD is currently looking for a full time researcher at post-doc level with a PhD in social sciences and strong skills in policy evaluation to joint an interdisciplinary team with a vast experience in the evaluation of public policies and programmes, focused on development issues, with an emphasis on such aspects as regional and local development, social capital, education, health and culture.

Qualifications and skills

1. Education and experience

- PhD degree in social sciences, preferentially with a specialisation in evaluation studies, business and public administration, economics, or project planning and management
- 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience and scientific production, although applicants with less research experience might be considered

2. Key competences

- Ability to develop and to implement methodologies to assess the impact and the effectiveness of public policies and programmes
- Knowledge of common computer applications and in particular in specialised software applied to evaluation studies

3. Communication and languages

- Fluency in English, both oral and written
-Willingness to participate in knowledge transfer activities

The position involves collaborative research work with faculty and researchers in the field of evaluation studies. It allows independent research and does not involve teaching obligations. It offers the opportunity to develop and apply both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to the evaluation of public policies and programmes focused on development issues, with an emphasis on such aspects as local and regional development, social capital, education, health and culture.

Contractual conditions

The contractual conditions are in accordance with the programme Ciência 2008. The contract offered will have duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement. The annual salary (before taxes) will be approximately 3,000 Euros x 14 months.
