Postdoctoral Scientist
or
2 PhD Student positions

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic young scientists to join our research team in the identification and pharmacological characterization of bioactive natural compounds, mainly in the context of vascular biology, inflammation and metabolic disorders.

The position(s) are available starting from November until filled and run for 4 (graduate students) or 6 years (postdoctoral fellow).

The successful candidates would hold a relevant degree in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular Biology or a similar field.

Expertise/ Interest in standard cell-and molecular biological work is desired, as well as previous research experience in the field of vascular biology, inflammation or metabolic disorders might offer an advantage. Previous experience in the field of discovery and pharmacological characterisation of biologically active natural compounds and/or their molecular targets might also be a particular asset to fill the postdoctoral position.

Our Department is located in the heart of Vienna, a city with an excellent standard of living and considered to be one of the most attractive towns in Europe.

Good English and German communication skills are expected since both positions are involved in meeting the teaching load of our Department for students of pharmacy.

We expect high motivation and commitment, a competitive scientific productivity and ability to work under pressure. What we could offer are very well equipped laboratories with up-to date scientific environment, a range of interesting projects and an excellent working and social atmosphere within the group and the department.

Salaries will be according to the rules of Austrian Science Foundation.

The decision whether a postdoctoral fellow or two PhD students will be employed will be taken based on the qualifications of the applicants and the quality of the applications that we will receive.
