Santa Clara University School of Law offers a unique program for international lawyers, judges, and law professors that will lead to an LLM degree in United States law.
Building on the institution' s extensive and pioneering involvement in international law education, Santa Clara offers the chance to experience the evolving law culture of the United States from the campus in Silicon Valley, one of the most dynamic centers of commerce and learning in the world. The program offers not only courses at the law school, but also social and professional contact with leading law authorities, judges and scholars.
The LLM in U.S. Law degree program provides participants with a great deal of flexibility in fashioning a program to meet their professional interests. Alternatively, a candidate may choose to focus their studies into one of three specialized areas. These specializations are Intellectual Property/High Tech Law, Human Rights/Public Interest Law, and International and Comparative Law.
A significant aspect of the LLM program is the inclusion of a special session on U.S. law. This unique summer program is designed specifically for international lawyers, judges, professors, and other law professionals interested in studying the U.S. law systems.
This three-week, intensive session provides an introduction to U.S. law practice for practitioners who received their initial law degree outside the United States. The session also provides a foundation for those practitioners coming to the United States to study for a graduate law degree. The session is a prerequisite to studies for the LLM in U.S. Law degree and takes place immediately before the start of the fall semester.
